Yes the night before last Heroine was going to give us some nudity but then I think she sobered up and changed her mind! She got us all excited

I bet she wears those "skinny" jeans. All the youngsters around here wear them. Some of them look silly, especially the guys.
But when you are young you have that right. After all I used to sport a mullet and a mustache. Except back then the word "mullet" hadn't even been invented yet. It was just a cool hairstyle.

I can speak of the Kiowa people, and mostly they put on paint for different reasons. One guy said he wears his face paint during our ceremonials is for remembering of a combat buddy that died. in the paintings from henri peter art , i believe he explains why in his bio. in our Kiowa tribe, most women don't wear face paint, except maybe for cheeks or round circles on their cheeks. some women smear red paint down their parted hair. i forgot why, though. I don't do it, but some of my cousins do. but for the most part, its sacred when they put on their face paint.

Re: The power of art
that's so interesting to me I know a lot of people refer to it as "war paint" but I heard "medicine paint" as well,i like that much better and i know it's worn for protection and to display individual powersmaunsapt wrote:claudicici wrote:thank you ,maunsapt,I would be very interested to know more about the indian face paint, there's not even much on the web I can find about it...

Re: The power of art
Claudicici reminded me that the art thread was sitting there stalled..
Here's some more pics.
Ray Caesar
His images are prints of things that he creates with 3d modeling software.
This one called Side Saddle is something that I posted at Websleuths right near the end and I wondered if it offended someone who reported it.
Sleeping by Day - Isn't she a cutie?

Kris Kuksi
I'm not super crazy about what he does, too much talent with too little to show for it, but I may be if he keeps at it.

(that image didn't work well, too big and I don;t know how to resize something linked. check it out here full sized http://jadendelazaro.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/kuksi-11.jpg)

Re: The power of art
There is something in the water in Vienna I think. These guys are all from there.
Rudolf Hausner
This is from 1948 The Ark of Odysseus
Ernst Fuchs
Adam and Eve
The Wedding of the Unicorn circa 1952
Friedensreich Hundertwasser
His architecture is very interesting too. He built apartment buildings that look like this.

Re: The power of art
Hans Memling German from near Frankfurt. Worked in The Netherlands and Belgium. Lived 1430 -1494
This is his Last Judgement dated 1470 +- It was painted on three panels as part of an altarpiece. The outer panels most likely closed over the central panel ann have paintings on their back sides too.

Re: The power of art
I'm so behind on his and I'm just now looking more into the incredible polish poster artists....it's a little frustrating because most of the articles that seem to be more interesting are in polish and the english ones i find don't give much insight...so eg I just gave up and just concentrated on Franciszek Starowieyski and just looked at the posters and I'm excited but a lot of them i know mean so much more than what i can understand,he seems to use a lot of symbolism in his art and it goes a lot further than just expressing emotions or state of mind so i'm gonna spend a little time with that...
