I love to cook, went to a culinary arts institute for a year to learn to do it right, that said this little baby right here is my favorite kitchen tool and I couldnt imagine being without it. It is called a cheese plane and it slices cheese to absolute PERFECTION!

    Ever use one?

Yeah, I have had a few of those over the years. I'm sure you'll be shocked.......I hate them. I slice cheese with a knife, a really good knife.

The only thing my ex and I kind of got pissy about during our divorce was our vast collection of kitchenware. We've both been "chefs by default" at fine dining restaurants.

If I didn't fear de-railing the thread, I'd mention how good those things are for slicing off just the right little sliver from a big ole block of hashish.

Mags, why does one shave candles??? I must know. Sounds like something I might need to do...is it when they get burned down too far into the center or when they are excessively hairy...

Its when they burn down too far in the center. Good candles won't do that, they'll burn evenly, but I don't alway get good ones.

You forgot where I work, didn't you? I squeeze more citrus in any given day than any human should ever have to, lol!

Anyway, totally jealous. I would LOVE citrus trees! I'm just not willing to live in a climate where they grow. Mr. Man's friend in FL used to have a tree that grew oranges, grapefruits, lemons & limes all together. Some mutant thing he spent years splicing together. Sounded like the perfect tree to me!

Think of the religions & politics involved. There isn't enough cheese in the world to melt over that! Lol!

I love cheese, too. Want a pic of my "never been polished" toes? Funny post

Anyone in to cast iron cookware, been collecting cast iron skillets and such for years, the real good ones are made by Griswold, and say ERIE, PA on them, they dont make them anymore but they are generally the ones that have the most value and are hard to find, next best is Wagner, they are also quite valuable. Lodge is good but they are mass produced and dont have much collector value.

I love to use cast iron for cooking, its healthy and so much better than that non stick crap, I also have good industrial stainless steel stuff that works well but the cast iron is hard to beat. A little heavy but worth it.

I really, really want a bread machine. Except I'm smart enough to know that I'd eat every loaf before it had a chance to cool down. Sad

Should have known me ten years ago, Pax. I sold a twelve piece set at my garage sale for ten bucks. I knew what they were worth, but I simply couldn't lift them anymore. The look on the buyers face made up for it. Wink
